Black Hole Club May Day Reader

1 May 2020 – 10 May 2020

Black Hole Club presented a Mayday Reader of work and conversations that asked, what holds value for us in this present?  Who is there for us right now and who do we want to hear from? Do we want to start or stop, in times marked by rolling news, tech trillionaires, isolated shopping and clapping for our carers?

With the temporary closure of Vivid Projects physical space in March 2020, Black Hole Club’s work and development as a cohort shifted to online platforms. This initiated conversations, exchanges and projects that developed through the year. The reader featured works by: Alis Oldfield, Ambie Drew, Ambience Factory, Exodus Crooks, Emily Scarrott, Jas Singh, …kruse, Kühle Wampe, Leanne O’Connor & Larissa Shaw, Rosa Francesca and Rosa Postlethwaite.

The Mayday Reader can be accessed on Black Hole Club’s website and by direct link and was shared via Twitter and Instagram. To access the full content you need to download the reader to your computer.

Alternative Digbeth First Friday

Whilst we were unable meet in person this First Friday, we called on our audiences to support those most in need. If you usually buy a drink or snacks during your First Friday night out, how about supporting some of the charities providing crucial support to our communities during this incredibly tough time, by making a donation to them instead? Our suggestions include  St. Basils, The Trussell Trust and the Cooperation Birmingham solidarity kitchen.

#staysafe, enjoy the art this #digbethfirstfriday and support some brilliant Birmingham charities.
