Who are we? BMAP Exhibition Launch & Activation with Gary Stewart

Join us for Who Are We? BMAP Exhibition Launch & Activation with Gary Stewart this Saturday 25 April, 1-4pm.
To celebrate the opening of the exhibition “Birmingham Media Archive Project: The First Decade 1982-1992” at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery’s Pixel Studio, musician and artist Gary Stewart will be performing a series of immersive live interventions, remixing the archives to create audio-visual explorations in response to the provocation “Who are We?”
The short performances will take place on the hour at 1, 2, 3 and 4pm. Alongside the performances, Charlotte Bailey, Marley Starskey Butler, Erinn Dhesi, Nafeesa Hamid, Jayne Murray and Vignesh Venkataramaiah will present activities and conversations in the Engagement Studio.
This group, through discussion and hands-on engagement with Gary Stewart and archive facilitators, have navigated and reinterpreted archival materials, bridging generations and lived experiences to bring fresh perspectives to the archive that foreground stories often absent from mainstream histories.
It’s free to attend, no booking required. We hope to see you there!
